Rio de Janeiro, Presidential Palace
In Lapa and Centro districts (north), we find old colonial buildings. Here we find the new cathedral of Rio (a rather ugly building, by the way), the old aqueduct (Arco de Lapa), the old Presidential Palace and some museums. The area has some nice parks and street markets.
We will start out virtual visit to the old town in Rua de Catete, with the former Presidential Palace. Before the capital of Brazil was moved to Brasilia, the president used to live in the building you see in the picture. Nowadays the building hosts a museum.
