The best time to come to Rio de Janeiro is, of course, during carnival (late January, early February). At this time the city is at its most lively. But you should know that it is quite difficult to find a hotel room (which triple their price) during carnival, so you'd better book well in advance. After the carnival, prices drop, and the weather is quite good. But any time is a good time to come to Rio de Janeiro.

The recommended length of your stay in Rio will depend on the time of the year you come. If you come during carnival and want to see everything, you should stay at least one week. If you come the rest of the year, four or five days will be necessary.
