3/18.- Ouro Preto, Igreja de Sao Francisco de Paula

Ouro Preto's main attractions are in the town center, and east and west of it. A good way to start the visit to the town is walking down one of the two streets West of the main square, Rua Senador Rocha Lagoa or Rua Cidade de Bobadela.

Although a tourist map may be handy, I would recommend forgetting about it, and heading for the churches you will see during your walk.

One of the most original churches is the church of Largo do Rosario, with its rounded facade. This church was constructed by the black slaves. In contrast to the rest of the churches in town, this one has no gold in its interior. In the picture you can see another nice colonial church, the Igreja de Sao Francisco de Paula.
