35/37.- Belem, local house

The Marajó Island is the most beautiful in the Amazon River. The island lies 200 km away from Belem, and it is famous among ecological tourists. To visit the Island of Marajó you can join an organized tour, or go on your own. If you want to take the local transport, you will have to go to the village of Mosqueiro, and take a ferry there. The boat ride will take you four hours. On the island there are many activities to do: jungle hikes, visits to the local tribes, and sunbathing on its nice beaches.
