4/37.- Belem, Palacio Lauro Sodre

If we keep walking east, we will get to the Palácio Lauro Sodré (in the picture), that hosts the Museu do Estado do Pará, and the Palácio Antônio Lemos, that hosts the MABE-Museu de Arte de Belém.

The Museu do Estado do Pará is in an 18th century building that used to host the government. The Palace was commissioned by the Marquês de Pombal to host the Brazilian court. In the 1980's the museum was inaugurated. Inside you can visit a collection of furniture, sculptures and paintings from the Art Noveau period.
