43/50.- Red Sea, snorkeling, sergeant major

On the left you can see a sergeant major fish (abudefduf saxatilis). This fish name comes from the five black bars that resemble the insignia of that rank in the military services. This is a friendly fish, except during mating, when the male is extremely territorial. These fishes have the chance to live a experience many humans have dreamed at least once: males, can change their sex and become females.

Sergeant majors can be found in many private aquariums, because of their beauty, their intelligence and their interesting personAlity. It is also very easy to take care of them.
