16/47.- Marrakech, Bahia Palace, door

The construction of the Bahia Palace was commissioned by the nouveau-riche Abu Ahmed, a former black slave who rose to power at the end of the 19th century. The palace was designed by the architect Muhammad al-Mekki of Marrakech.

Some critics say the Bahia Palace is only a work of a tasteless rich man, but I do recommend visiting it.
