6/25.- Fez, The Medina, Sultan Palace, detail
In the picture you can see a detail of the tiled decorations
of one of the walls of a room in the sultan's palace. The guide
showed us the men's room, the hammam room and the sultan's espouses
room. These sultans knew how to live!
If you come to Fez during the summer months, I recommend you
to visit the palaces around noon, when temperatures are at their
highest point. Architects of these houses knew how to protect
the rooms from the outside heat. Inside the rooms you won't
be harassed, you won't hear the noises of the street, no smells
either. The perfect place to relax. If there are no other visitors,
you may even take a short nap, and feel like a pacha for a while.
