44/50.- Luxor, Hatshepsut temple, paintings
On the walls of the lowest terrace there are some colorful
reliefs. They depict the miraculous birth of queen Hatshepsut
and the transport of obelisks by boat to Karnak. Reliefs on the south
side of the middle terrace show the queen's expedition through the
Red Sea to punt, the land of incense. These reliefs were restored
in 1906 to protect their vivid colors.
In the photo you can see one of these reliefs. The figure at
the left is one of the Theban main divinities, if I am not wrong it
is the god monthu. Monthu was the Theban
god of war.
