25/50.- Cairo, old Cairo, Amr Ibn al-As Mosque

This mosque is very special, because it was the first mosque in Egypt. It was constructed in 642. Unfortunately not much of its original layout remains today. In 1983 it was reconstructed and when I visited it, the mosque was being completely refurbished. I think everything will be brand new when the current works finish.
