23/50.- old Cairo, Saint George Church

Saint George Church is a Greek orthodox temple built at the beginning of the 20th century. There used to be another church dedicated to mar girgis (saint george in Arabic) in this district, but it is not here any more.

Close to this church there's the saint george's convent, where devotees can practise the chain ritual. This ritual recalls Saint George's persecutions.
