21/50.- Cairo, the citadel,
Mohammed Ali mosque
In front of Sultan Hassan's mosque there's the citadel. The
citadel used to be the residence of the Egyptian rulers.
To get in you have to pay for n entrance ticket.
In the citadel there are three mosques, some museums and some palaces,
but the main reason to visit it is the great view of the city
you have from here.
The Mohammed Ali mosque was built between
1830 and 1848, and although it has received many criticisms
is one of Cairo's landmarks.
We will now visit the old Cairo. To get there you can take
a taxi (recommended) or go to Midan Tahrir (city center) and
take the underground to Mar Girgis. Let's go ...
