8/50.- Cairo, khan el Khalili, el hakim

Well, I think I have dedicated enough space to Khal al Khalili. Now we will visit some other streets in the Islamic Cairo. In fact all Cairo is Islamic, but this district is known as the Islamic Cairo.

As you can see in the photo, Egyptian women hide their hair with a headscarf. In some cases they even cover their faces, as the one you can see on this shot. I even saw women who hid their faces completely. You couldn't even see their eyes!

If you are a woman and want to visit Egypt, you should choose your clothes carefully. It is not necessary to use a headscarf, but you'd better use long skirts, and leave your short sleeves shirts at home.
