The 'Chiesa del Redentore' sits on 'Giudecca Island'. The church is a work of Palladio and was built when the Venetian Senate swore that they would build this devotion temple and make a yearly pilgrimage here if the 1576 pestilence would leave the city. As you can see in the photo, the plague finally left the city. The Church was built soon after.
