For the next three days of our stay in Maramures we chose a guest house in Viseu de Jos, a village of 5000 souls at the foothills of Maramures Mountains along the scenic Viseu Valley. From there our hosts drove us in their Opel station wagon to cattle markets, museums, craftsmen workshops in the villages of Botiza, Sacel, Dragomiresti, Bogdan-Voda where we mingled with local folks, visited their households and workshops, admired their art and bought authentic ceramic, masks, and carpets directly from the artists.
