8/29.- Milan, Piazza Duomo

Let’s learn something about Milan’s history. This Celtic origin city was during the Roman times one of the biggest cities of the Empire, Diocleciano named it the Western capital. After a short barbarian invasion the city was conquered by the Francs. The Francs king, Carlomagno, crowned himself the Lombard’s King in 774. In the 12th century the city became part of the "Liga Lombarda" and became independent. One century later one of the most powerful families of its times, the Visconti, took the power. They wanted to control all the North of Italy, but the Florence-Venice alliance stopped them. At this time began the construction of the 'Duomo' (Cathedral).
