In the middle of November 4th Piazza stands the monumental 13th-century Fontana Maggiore, totally covered with marble sculptured panels representing a variety of subjects ranging from biblical characters to allegories of the seasons and the signs of the zodiac. Most of these panels are copies, as the originals have been put on carefully protected display in the national Umbrian Gallery.
