And here we are at the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Although construction began during the classical period of Athenian democracy, work stopped and started over the centuries, and it wasn't completed until something like 800 years later, during Roman times (the 2d century).
It was the largest temple in Greece, even larger than the Parthenon. As you can see though, not much is left today. Given the great view of the Temple from the Acropolis, you may be wondering what the view of the Acropolis is like from down here at the Temple.
