The size of the island varies considerably with the tides. Its highest point is 6 or so metres above sea level, but the average height of the island is a mere 1,5 metres. Which means that at high flood tides, the island can be almost totally invaded by the Ocean. On the occasions when this happens, people take their refuge in the local church. If the sea level keeps rising at its present rate due to global warming, the island may be flooded more frequently or be completely washed over by the Ocean.
