Menu

The picture shows the statue celebrating Queen Elizabeth, who distinguished herself during World War I by volunteering as a nurse caring for wounded soldiers, and later as the initiator of the Queen Elizabeth music festival, with its world-famous competition.  Her statue faces the equestrian statue of her husband, Albert I, who was called the Soldier King in acknowledgement of his bravery on the battlefield.
