34/50.- Brussels, Schuman Square

Schuman Square, named after the initiator of the European Union, is a busy traffic circle around which many of the European institutions are huddled.  Whenever an interest group decides to demonstrate, which happens rather often, traffic flowing into Brussels from the east and south-east is heavily disturbed, as demonstrators are most often denied access to the key areas, not infrequently with the help of riot police and water cannons.
