16/38.- Bordeaux, Cours Clemenceau

If you want to buy some bottles of Bordeaux wine to bring home, you will need to learn how to read the label. The first thing you have to look for is the appellation. You will have to look for the name of the 'Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée' (A.O.C.). There are 57 of them in the Bordeaux region. It is not practical to name all of them --we will later name the main regions. You also have to look for the percentage of alcohol in the wine, to know how strong the wine is.

Look for wines with the inscription "Mis en bouteille au château" for wines bottled in the Chateau --a chateau is a vineyard in this region. "Mis en bouteille dans la région de production", means it has been bottled in the region. Look also for the vintage, to know the year the grapes were harvested.
