16/46.- Alsace, Riquewihr, the gate

Riquewihr is one of the tourists' favourite destinations. It is a small, very picturesque village within its walls, which is entered via one of the towered city gates. The gate shown here, the most famous one, is called Dolder. The narrow streets are lined with tourist shops, cafés and restaurants, but above all with the shops of wine merchants. Alsace produces mainly white wine, with many varieties ranging from dry to fruity.
