The Hanoi Hilton is the name Americans gave to the Hoa Lo Prison, in Hanoi. This Prison was built by the French at the begginning of the 20th century. It was here that many leaders of the Communist government were jailed during the French domination.
This prison was the most famous POW jail in North Vietnam during the American-Vietnam War. In 1993 much of it was toren down to make way for a luxury hotel and an office complex called Hanoi Towers. But one corner was preserved as a museum.
