12.- Pakistan, Karakoram Highway

The Karakoram Highway is only about 500 miles long, but it traverses some of the most picturesque and rugged terrain in the world. From Islamabad to Gilgit is not a difficult drive as the road follows the Indus River. After Gilgit, as the KKH winds along the Hunza River, the journey becomes much more difficult.
