29/48.- Damascus, Roman Arch

The Roman Arch was originally built in the 3rd century by the Romans at the intersection of Straight Street (Via Recta during the Roman times, and Midhat Pasha today) and Cadro Maximus. It was reconstructed during the French Mandate in the 20th century.

The arch also marks the start of the Christian and Jewish Quarters. On the left hand side of the arch is the Orthodox Church of Mary.
