The best time to go to the Municipal market is at lunch time. Inside the market you will find stands with fresh fruits, spices and local sausages. On the first floor you will find the food stands and some restaurants that serve food on the bar. On the second floor you will find the proper restaurants, with tables and chairs. The typical dishes are the Mortadella Sandwich (Brazilian sausage) and the cod cake.
To order in one of the bars on the first floor, you say the sandwich you want and pay the clerk, you take a ticket with your number, and sit on a chair. After a few minutes the waiter will shout your number (in Portuguese), and bring your sandwich. If you do not understand Portuguese, show your ticket each time the waiter says a number. By the way, you'd better be hungry because sandwiches are massive (almost 10 cm of mortadella). At the menu restaurants on the second floor the recommendable dishes are the same, cod and mortadella.
