Hurghada is growing quickly. The standard of life is here somewhat higher than in the rest of Egypt. Nonetheless, beggars and shoe cleaners can bee seen throughout the town. They are really nice guys, and will almost never harass tourists.
If you come to Hurghada and do not want to dive in its waters, you can visit the town's aquarium. For a few Egyptian pounds you will have the chance to see a great selection of tropical fishes and corals.
