The Red Sea was created more than 30 million years ago, when the Arab peninsula started to part from Africa. Twenty million years ago, the Arab peninsula which parted from Africa, started to move to the North, and another break line was formed, giving birth to the Gulf of Eilat. The Gulf of Suez is shallower than the Gulf of Eliat, the first one with a maximum depth of 85 meters, while the second one's depth varies from 100 to 1800 meters.
The temperatures of the waters in the Red Sea are warm enough to snorkel all year round, the coldest moth of the year is January and the warmest months are July and August.
