
The sense of community and belonging is evident in this photo. Notice that the land behind them has no roads, homes or signs of occupation by humans. This photo was taken just outside one of their temporary bomas, the woven briar fence that encircles the kraal (living area) to protect the Maasais' dung huts and their cattle, gathered in at night to protect them from marauding predators. Their herds needs for grass and water keep Maasai families moving.
