19/43.- Vienna, Volksgarten 2

On this place there used to be the Burgbastei (Palace Bastion), which was destroyed during Napoleon’s invasion (1809). Soon after Napoleon’s defeat this public garden was built. Napoleon’s invaded Austria twice between 1805 and 1809. In alliance with England, Prussia and Russia, Austria defeated the French troops and the traditional balance of powers was re-established in Europe.
