Parlament
This building is Austrias Parliament. The lower house of
Austria --the National Council, whose members are elected by popular
vote-- and the upper house --the Federal Council, whose members are
chosen by the states-- sit here. The building is on Dr Karl Renners
Avenue, Renners was Austrias first Chancellor at the establishment
of the republic in 1918, and its president from 1945 to 1950 after
the re-establishment of the democratic republic.
The building was
constructed from 1873 to 1883 by T. Hansen, hes
also the author of the Pallas Athenea Fountain that you
can see in front of the construction.
