5/43.- Vienna, Church of St
Charles Borromeo
You can see here
one of the best samples of the Baroque architecture in
Vienna; the Saint Charles Borromeo Church, with its 236
feet high dome. This church was constructed from 1716 to
1739. The works were begun by JB Fischer von Erlach, and
were continued by his son Joseph Emanuel. After an
epidemic in Vienna, Emperor Charles VI ordered its
construction. Inside the Church there are some
interesting frescoes.
In front of the
church you can see a sculpture by Henry Moore (at your
left).
