The global warming affects all the world, but in Venice its effects
are particulary evident. Due to its location by the sea, periodic
floods swamp parts of the city. It is what locals call Acque
Alte (Usually from November to April). There have always been
high tides in Venice, but lately they are more frequent and their
effects more visible.
Even San Marco
Square is sometimes under three feet of water for two or
three hours.
