23/50.- Avanos pottery demonstration

For lunch we drive to Avanos where we go to a cave restaurant to sample local food like Testi kebab, a stew cooked in earthenware, and other Turkish specialities. After lunch we visit a local pottery workshop. This small town is famous for its pottery which designs and techniques remained unchanged throughout time. The reddish clay brought by the Red River (Kizilirmak) is the essential raw material for the talented potters in Avanos.
