34/43.- Tarragona, harbor

Tarragona is a Mediterranean city. Without the sea this city would not exist. The blue Mediterranean waters and the blue sky are part of this city. In this photo you can see the city’s harbor. With the industrialization of the city this small harbor became one of the biggest harbors in Europe. In the outskirts of the city there’s one of the biggest refineries in the world. If you like the "Mad Max" look, you can go there. It’s a visit you will hardly forget. Day and night big flames come out the huge chimneys. The refineries take up many acres of land; miles and miles of tubes, factories, chimneys, fumes, ... a third century landscape. One third of the population in Tarragona works or has a relative who works there.
