23/43.- Tarragona, Auditori

In this auditorium take place several cultural activities during the year. It sits by the Wall in the 'Camp de Mart'. Especially in Summer concerts take place here.

Tarragona is also famous for its folklore. The most admired tradition in the region is the "Castellers", the human castles. This tradition has its origins in the village of Valls. Valls, Vilafranca and Tarragona are the three main centers of this old tradition. Competitions take place during the Summer season in the South of Catalonia (and everywhere else, since recently). In a competition different "Colles" (=bands) compete to construct the higher human tower; one person over the other. A Castle is complete when the "aixaneta" (a kid) crowns the human tower. Sometimes the kid does not have time to get to the top and the human tower falls down. Very seldom one of the participants get hurt. This is quite strange if you take in consideration that these human towers can easily be more than 6 meters high!

To get to this auditorium you have to walk the "Via Imperi Romà", where there are some interesting Roman ruins ...
