6/28.- Tarifa, Sancho IV el Bravo

The Old Town of Tarifa has two main city gates: the Gate of Jerez, at the end of the new town's commercial axis, la Batalla del Salado; and a second gate at the end of Av de la Consitucion.

One of the first things you will see after entering the city through the Av Constitucion Gate, is the statue of Sancho IV el Bravo, a Spanish king who conquered Tarifa from the moors in 1292.

Behind the statue is the Castle of Guzman el Bueno, an old castle overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar that has witnessed many battles.
