4/20.- Santiago de Compostela, Plaza Obradoiro

Menu

We are now looking at the "Obradoiro" square --the square in front of the Cathedral’s main facade.

The city of Santiago de Compostela is embraced by the rivers Tambre and Ulla, in Galicia (Northwest Spain). The city was founded after the discovery of the Apostle Santiago remains in the 9th century. Santiago became soon after a pilgrimage center. Probably the Apostle legend comes from the transportation of the remains from Merida after the Muslim invasion.
