19/50.- Sapanta, view of the cemetery

On the cross, above the epitaph the mentioned person is colorfully painted in a crucial moment of his/her life. The naive paintings on the cross represent people in motion, riding horses, working or in the tragic moment of an accident, going to war, etc. Women are depicted holding babies, working, dancing with men, attending animals. The shepherd, the farmer, the wood carver, the housewife, the drunkard, the teacher become equals as they are all presented through image and verse in the same manner, a truthful, direct, colorful narrative of life rather then sadness, emptiness of death.
