7/50.- The wooden church of Rogoz

Located in the land of Lapus, in the Lapus River valley the wooden church of the Holy Archangels in Rogoz was built in 1663 by the villagers on the site of a former church. In 1834 a platform with a painted parapet was added to the west side of the nave. The same year the ceiling of the narthex and the vault of the nave were repainted while the windows of the nave were modified. The church displays a unique type of plan characterized by a polygonal narthex, a rectangular nave and an altar with a recessed heptagonal apse. On the inside the main beam of the vault above the nave and the supporting corbels are decorated with a twisted rope motif.
