32/43.- Prague, train
bridge
Nice view, eh?
Nowadays several bridges link both river banks. But that
has not always been so. Before the 10th century there was
no bridge, and citizens of Prague had to cross the river
on ferries. The first Bridge was on the place where
Charles bridge stands today. This was the only bridge in
town for several centuries. In the 19th century new
bridges were constructed, with the developing of new
industries. The one youre currently seeing is the
Vysehrad Railway Bridge, constructed on the pillars of an
old bridge in 1900-1901.
We will now take a
tramway on Rasinovo Nabrezi (the street you can see by
the river) and visit the National theater.
