10/36.- Porto, "Praça Infante D. Henrique"

Henrique the Navigator (Porto 1394, Algarve 1460) prince of Portugal, founded the Sagres Naval School. He financed many Sea Expeditions --yes, that’s where his alias comes from-- to Africa: Madeira (1418, and still part of Portugal), Azores (1432-57, Portugal nowadays too), Bojador Cape (1434), Rio de Oro (1436) and Senegal (1445). After his death several decades went by without new expeditions.
