49/50.- Paris, Conciergerie
The 'Conciergerie' is another of the beautiful
buildings on the 'Ille de la Cite'. It was built by
Philippe the Fair in 1284-1314 to be the town's
main prison. Many famous French citizens were
imprisoned here, among others Danton and Marie
Antoinette -who's cell is now a chapel to her
memory. Currently the fortress holds the 'Palais de
Justice' complex.
If you click on the photo you will see our last
panorama, the Conciergerie.
