27/50.- Paris, Place Vendome

A few blocks North of the 'Jardin des Tuileries' is the 'Place Vendome'. These 17th century buildings holds some of the most expensive hotels and shops in Paris. In France, the place is mostly famous for its jewelers ("les Diamantaires").

The column in the middle of the square was cast with 1250 Austrian and Russian cannons captured by Napoleon's Army. A statue of Napoleon crowns the bronze column. Following the street at the left of the picture we get to the Opera ...
