17/50.- Paris, Tour Eiffel from bellow

One of the the things that surprised me most about the Tower Eiffel is its actual size. It is huge! I had seen the Tower many times on the TV, in movies, postcards, etc. But it was not until I was underneath it, that I realized how big it is!

Some anecdotes ... In 1923 a journalist rode a bicycle down from the first level. In 1954 was scaled by a mountaineer. In 1984 two Englishmen jumped with a parachute from its tip.

If you ever come to Paris you have to climb to the top to enjoy the view. There are three platforms. The top platform is the most expensive, but it is really worth the money. If you click on the photo you will see a movie clip shot inside the lift. See you at the top ...
