On the other end of the avenue, just a few yards before the Arch, there is the Paris main Tourist Office. Friendly staff will give you free maps and guides, find accommodation for you and everything else you need to make your stay in Paris pleasant. They speak several foreign languages, but before you ask anything remember to use the magic words: "Excusez-moi, parlez-vous anglais" (=excuse me, do you speak English). Even if you do not know how to pronounce these words, I am sure they will appreciate your effort.
