3/50.- Paris, the Seine River
The Seine river splits the heart of the city in two. The Left
Bank ('Rive Gauche') sits to the south of the river, the Right Bank
('Rive Droite') to the north. Several bridges link both river banks
and the 'Ile de la Cite' and the 'ile Saint-Louis', the two islands
in the town center. The tourist offer in Paris is so varied, that you will, at least,
need a week to see everything. Although Paris is a huge metropolis,
the city center is small enough to be visited on foot -if you are
fit, of course. A good idea is to buy a tourist bus ticket the first
day, and spend the following days visiting the parts of the city that
you liked most.
