4/27.- Padua, Basilica di Sant’Antonio

This Basilica, also known as the Santo’s Basilica, is a 1232 work. It has eight Byzantine domes --similar to the domes of the San Marco’s Basilica, in Venice. It is one of the more richly decorated basilicas in Italy.

Unfortunately as you can see in the photo the Church was under reconstruction when I visited it. The Basilica was being cleaned up for the Millennium celebrations. If you are planning to visit this city you’ll be luckier, because the restoration finished in November 1999.
