18/29.- Milan, Santa Maria delle Grazie

Santa Maria delle Grazie was constructed in the 15th century. The dome and the cloister are a work of Bramante. But what has made this church famous all over the world is Leonardo’s "Last Supper". The work was painted between 1495 and 1498, the painting has been restored several times. The last restoration has revealed us the enormous studies that the painter dedicated to the work. What used to be blurred patches have become precisely depicted characters. The painting shows us the moment when Jesus revels that he will be betrayed by one of his disciples. Each of them is exceptionally portrayed.
